The camera is a memory button for the brain.
Most of my pictures are the result of random serendipity, although I sometimes set out with an idea or project in mind. I therefore have two approaches to photography: prowling about with a camera, hoping to snap something interesting; and, visualising something in my minds eye and planning how to capture it.
Neither of these approaches is superior to the other. I strive to be better at both.
One of the greatest benefits of digital photography and post-processing is that it helps to bridge the gap between chance and thoughtfulness.
Also between Seeing and Communicating.
