The Tivoli Cinema, Tiverton, presents a large rectangular opening to the High Street. Walking by one day I snapped two men in the entrance, arguing. They looked like they could be on a cinema screen: real life imitating art. I went back for a day in 2014, set up a camera on a tripod on the other side of the street and waited ….

The first image was taken in February 2011 and the rest in August 2013. This project is a happy blend of happenstance, prevarication and a little planning. People passing and seeing the camera were very obliging and some were natural models.

I was supposed to be part of the Running Wild Photography Exhibition currently open at Dunster but my concept and its execution didn't pass muster and, having left it too late to change tack, I had to withdraw.
